The guys behind your favorite rooftop in LA.

If you live in Los Angeles, you know about the infamous rooftop pool at The Standard Downtown and chances are, you've probably been to one of our Creme de la Creme series at the property. What you may not know is that these two are the gatekeepers that make sure the hotel stays relevant and cool...

The Macbook Wheel

In conjunction w/ the weak showing of products from Apple this year is this great piece by The Onion on a mock Macbook "Wheel." Best part is when they're trying to type by spinning the wheel onto every letter haha.

Stephen Sprouse x LV

In conjunction with Stephen Sprouse's new collection launch into Louis Vuitton's SoHo flagship store, a limited skateboard and a t-shirt has been created. Price of the board? $8,250. I guess...

Rotten Apples

Dan Lyons, a journalist for Newsweek attended MacWorld . . . and . . . News-was-weak (get it?). Anyways, apparently this years MacWorld was pitiful, and it seems that Apple is starting to loose its steam. Its funny actually, I was talking to Flakez about this the other day. It seems Apple is beginning to manufacture innovation for innovation's sake; rather than innovation for simplicity's sake. The withering Steve Jobs seems to be a good metaphor for Mac in general.

Obama on Check Please!

If you're a Chicagoan, the chances are you've caught an episode of "Check, Please!" which happens to be one of my favorite programs. Each episode 3 different regular Chicagoans pick their favorite restaurants and they all go to those restaurants (separately and without the restaurant's knowledge) then talk about it. Well, turns out Barack Obama was on an episode back in August of 2001!! Man, imagine being the 2 that were on that show with him now! He's so Chicago, I'm loving him even more.

"I always thought it was better to run."

Esquire Magazine just caught up with Larry Bird, for a special "What I've Learned" installment.  He recaps his years in the NBA, his old jobs, and even Eminem.  One thing that always amazed me about Larry Bird was his ability "in-the-clutch."  He was never the fastest, strongest, or quickest player . . . but when the fourth quarter rolled around and the chips were down, there was no body better.

I used to love the feeling of running, of running too far. It made my skin tingle. When I used to play, if I was in my room and I was on the road, I'd just go out for a run before games. In the city. Around the parking lot. On the track. I'd run around the top of the arena. Just something to keep me moving. A lot of players just couldn't do that. It wore them out for the game. I always thought it was better to run.

Effectiveness of Google Ads...

While everybody questions the effectiveness of display ads, food giant General Mills is raking in dough. While running a contest from Dec. 24, 2007 to May 25, 2008 in partnership with Google's Content Network and Youtube, the company experienced a 52 percent sales lift and more than 830 million impressions. Though not on quite the same scale as the digital campaign launched by General Mills, here's an oldie but goodie that got the homey Million $ Mano more than a million hits and a new crowd of kids fiending for his remixes (edited by yours truly)...

Steve Jobs' health = stock prices/future of Apple

There's been all kinds of speculation as to what Steve Jobs may be hiding from the public (and the shareholders) in regards to his health. It's especially important/fishy since he's already gone through a cancer recovery (didn't tell anyone about it then either) and according to the latest reports, the Apple CEO is blaming hormonal imbalance for his recent weight loss (ummmm ok). Hope the guy is ok...

Fixed-geared Hipster or PIGS?

After watching this I couldn't decide who I hated more.....fixed geared hipsters or pigs, you decide.

Remember the name......Garrett Reynolds

Garrett Reynolds is probably the baddest kid in the scene right now, my boy over at Knight Bike Co. has been flowing him goods since he was 15. Good reason why, check the video.

Be warned....the music is wack!
