interview

The xx on CNN

You know you've made it as an indie band when CNN dedicates an interview segment on you. Oliver Sim (singer, bassist) and Romy Madley Croft (singer, guitarist) have been friends since they were 3 and met Jamie Smith (beats, drums, producer) when they were 11. Precious. I love the part when Jamie says when they were making the record, they were trying to make it "perfectly imperfect."

Jimmy Iovine and Dr. Dre x Maria Bartiromo

Dre and Timbaland should fight to see who's trainer is worth the money. But on to subject at hand. The first half of the interview is pretty lame (sorry Maria), but I'm really not trying to hear about these headphones, I actually tried them in the apple store a while back and wasn't thrilled. The argument that apple headphones + file compression are ruining the emotion in music is a bit of a stretch, actually it's a huge stretch. Whatever, more interesting was the point about streaming music on phones, if I had some hypem on the go, I would be a happy camper (don't think I'm going to pay for that shit though Jimmy). By the way, Bose in-ear headphones > Beats by Dre.

I met the Walrus

This video isn't new, but I always like to come back to it now and then. Right now seems like a really good time for another revisit.

In 1969, a 14-year-old Beatle fanatic named Jerry Levitan snuck into John Lennon's hotel room in Toronto and convinced him to do an interview. 38 years later, Levitan, director Josh Raskin and illustrators James Braithwaite and Alex Kurina have collaborated to create an animated short film using the original interview recording as the soundtrack.

Ashley Greene

I've never followed the Twilight craze so had no idea who Ashley Greene was... Until today. These photos of her in the latest Interview got me to google her (you should too).

I may need a late pass on her...

Interview: Mel D. Cole (Village Slum)

For anybody who's ever gone out in NYC these past several years, Mel D. Cole is definitely a face/name to remember. Always equipped with a camera, Mel has held it down for event photos (which can be seen at Village Slum), going to hell and back for that "perfect" shot. Past subjects included Lil Wayne, Kid Cudi, amongst others. Unfortunately for us, the last event Mel shot at w/ dF (Creme de la Creme CMJ) was lost in a damaged memory card but we'll be sure to link up again in a couple months. Anyway, check the video below for a closer look at Mel and how he remains inspired doing what he does best.

Pac Div x MTV - The 5

A quick interview with the homeys Pac Div on MTV.

Luke Walker x Christian TV x Wanted Mag

Keep and eye on this duo. Christian TV came through Purple the other week and killed it, looks like him and Luke Walker (also the exclusive producer for Rob Roy) landed an interview with Wanted Mag. You're going to be hearing a lot from these guys in the near future.
