Chelsea Handler and Deadmau5?

I haven't watched the MTV Video Music Awards in a few years, and now I hear Chelsea Handler is hosting?! I might actually have to watch this one -- she's a riot. Coupled with Deadmau5 as the house DJ, this could be the weirdest award show yet. I hope that little nugget, Chuy, will be there...

Drake: Better than Good Enough

I don't get around to watching much MTV. But I finally saw their mini Drake documentary this weekend and I was throughly impressed. It serves as a good cross-section of the Rapper/Actor's life and the folks around him . . . not to mention the footage is really great. If you have some time I highly recommend watching this one.  The entire episode is free to watch here.

MTV's "Twitter Jockey"

MTV is searching for a Twitter Jockey, or TJ. They're looking for someone who's a master at social media, able to connect with fans, represent the audience, as well as appear on air at times. 20 potential applicants will be intensely interviewed, and you can nominate yourself or a friend for the position. Oh, and the VJ will be earning a six-figure salary. Read more here.

If I Were King... MTV x Diddy/Sean John

I can't believe this aired over 2 years ago... Most people like (or dislike) Sean Combs for his extravagant lifestyle but I've studied/admired him the past 10-12 years for a very different reason. No one is as dedicated/determined as Puff when it comes to having a vision then following through. This MTV special details how hard one has to work in order to achieve his dream; I've probably watched all 7 episodes about a dozen times (usually while eating lunch in the office). You can start with episode 1...

MTV 1981

Before "Jersey Shore", before "The Hills" MTV had music videos. The Top 13 brings us the top 13 music videos from the very first day MTV was launched on August 1, 1981. Apparently of the 62 music videos aired that day, and 5 of them were Rod Stewarts and 4 of them were from, REO Speedwagon... The list leaves them out but includes videos by my still favorites like David Bowie, Pretenders, Elvis Costello, and of course The Buggles with their unforgettable and appropriate hit "Video Killed the Radio Star" among others. Check out the list for rest of the videos as well as interesting facts about each one. On the list of course is the ever wonderful Talking Heads with the video for "Once in a Lifetime."
